About Pamela Varkony
Nationally recognized speaker, trainer, and writer, Pamela Varkony, is known for her keen insights on leadership, politics, and current affairs. She has provided professional development strategies and motivational keynotes for organizations from the Fortune 500 to entrepreneurial start-ups.
Pamela began her career in advertising and marketing, serving as a Director of Co-op Advertising for Media General, before becoming President and CEO of her own ad agency. Looking to pursue her passion of empowering other women, Pam founded “Power Of Women” a networking, mentoring, and education initiative dedicated to helping women achieve their goals through a personal and holistic approach to success.
A “citizen of the world”, Pamela Varkony not only travels the globe, she helps to change it through both her work and her advocacy. As the iron curtain was falling across Central Europe, Pam consulted with the Hungarian government to develop a cross-cultural communications course for their officials. She has taught management techniques to female entrepreneurs in emerging markets, assertiveness skills to businesswomen in Australia, established a leadership program for one of the Czech Republic's largest corporations, and has twice traveled to Afghanistan as a writer, consultant, and advocate.
Considered to be a force in women's empowerment, Pam speaks and trains frequently on the subjects of women's leadership, gender diversity, and their impact on corporate cultures and government policies.
A freelance columnist and commentator, her stories cover subjects from business ethics to the status of women in the third world. Her last fact-finding trip to Afghanistan included an “embed” assignment with the Command Surgeon of U.S. Troops in theater. She has contributed stories to National Public Radio for regional and national broadcasts, and provides commentary to the Emmy Award winning PBS-39 “Tempo Signature Series”.
Pam is a member of “American Women in Radio and Television” serving as a judge for the prestigious 2009 Gracie Awards. She is also a member of the “Pennsylvania Women's Press Assoc.” who recognized her with a 2008 “Excellence in Journalism” award for her editorial writing.
